Who We Serve

Since its inception in 1997, the Penn Med SP Program has been expanding yearly to support all levels of adult education in various disciplines and across professions. Our clients include both local and national partners in addition to learners here at the Perelman School of Medicine. Trainees range from preclinical medical students, nurses, pharmacists and social workers, to house staff and attending physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals. Beyond basic history-taking and physical exam instruction, our SPs help trainees learn a vast range of skills—everything from breaking bad news and disclosing unexpected medical events to patients and family members, to navigating difficult conversations with challenging co-workers and employing motivational interviewing techniques for behavioral change. The applications are limitless!
