Mission Statement

Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (FAPD) works with the leadership, faculty and administrators of the Perelman School of Medicine and the Health System to support an overarching goal of PENN Medicine - the implementation of the highest standards of excellence in academic medicine.  The mission of FAPD is to support this goal by facilitating the recruitment and appointment, promotion, and retention of distinguished faculty. Read more

Mariarita Santi, MD, PhD 

Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine—Clinician-Educator 

Dr. Santi is a leader in the field pediatric neuropathology, focusing particularly on the neuropathology of pediatric brain tumors. She studies the correlation of pediatric brain tumor morphology with molecular and genetic features using high-resolution single nucleotide polymorphism arrays and next generation DNA sequencing methodologies. Her scholarship is published in prestigious journals including Nature Genetics, The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, and Brain Pathology. She serves on the editorial boards of Pediatric and Developmental Pathology and the Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology. She is a member of a number of professional and scientific societies including the US and Canadian Academy of Pathology and the Society for Pediatric Pathology. She serves on the Professional Affairs Committee of the American Association of Neuropathologists.
