Bio statement

Gregory G. Ginsberg, MD is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine where he is a member of the Gastroenterology Division, and the Abramson Cancer Center and Executive Director of Endoscopic Services for Penn Medicine. His clinical practice and research focus on the development, evaluation, and implementation of new techniques and technologies as they apply to endoluminal diagnosis and management of digestive tract and related disorders. He engages in in-person and remote teaching, training, demonstration and proctoring gastrointestinal endoscopy for physicians in resource-challenged regions.

Recent global health projects

Through Penn's CGH, I have assembled a team of faculty and trainees from Penn's Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology to provide clinical support for colleagues in Ukraine during the ongoing hostilities. We meet for virtual consultation every other week. These sessions include remote case presentations, endoscopy, pathology and radiology review, and procedure demonstration and proctoring.

Through Penn CGH, I have just completed a site-visit to the Muhmbili Health and Allied Sciences University and Muhmbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to assess the needs and opportunities for and the challenges to establishing durable advanced endoscopic services and training there, in particular Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
