Recent global health projects

Botswana: I spent time in the Princess Marina Hospital Radiology department helping the radiology staff by reading multiple outside hospital x-rays and CTs that had accumulated over several weeks.

Nepal: I worked with a renowned Nepalese internal medicine physician named Dr. Mingmar Sherpa in addition to UPenn colleagues performing ultrasound exams on high-risk pregnancy patients. We traveled to remote villages with portable ultrasounds and set up pop-up pregnancy clinics. While scanning, we found many urgent findings, such as low fetal heart rate, placenta previa, poyhydramnios, and oligohydramnios. During the Nepal trip, I also visited Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and Mediciti Hospital where I learned from Nepalese physicians about the resources and infrastructure needed to improve their respective radiology departments.
