BIO STATEMENT
Dr. Mohan is a physician-scientist with a research focus on clinical and translational applications of advanced neuroimaging techniques in the development of noninvasive imaging-based biomarkers for assessing brain tumor metabolism and response to therapy. His current National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute funded clinical trial (R01 CA262584-01) is utilizing synergy of advanced metabolic imaging, computational modelling, with interdisciplinary collaborations and industrial partnership to transform the treatment of patients with brain tumors. Dr. Mohan is the recipient of numerous awards and honors and has been the brand ambassador for societies like the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) and the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR).
He was awarded the 2018 Anne G. Osborn ASNR Outreach Professorship to South Africa and the 2025 Anne G. Osborn ASNR Outreach Professorship to Brazil and was awarded the esteemed RSNA International Visiting Professorship (IVP) to Kazakhstan in 2022. Dr. Mohan is a passionate educator and was the recipient of the Wallace T. Miller Teaching Award for Teaching Excellence in 2013, and then the ‘2015 Teaching Award’, for ‘Excellence in Teaching’ at the University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, he was awarded the Association of University Radiologists (AUR), 2019 Outstanding Teacher Award. Dr. Mohan has made important scientific contributions and has published over 135 peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters, 3 books, presented over 250 abstracts in national and international meetings, and has delivered over 300 lectures locally, nationally, and internationally.
Dr. Mohan has had a number of roles in national organizations, American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and has been recently been appointed as the Assistant Editor for Radiographics. He has focused interest in advancing neuro-oncologic imaging and research, teaching and education, organizing CMEs, academic mentoring of trainees and junior faculty, as well as in multidisciplinary collaborations.

American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) Outreach Professorship to South Africa
Dr. Suyash Mohan, Professor of Radiology & Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania, traveled to Recife, Brazil (July 26 – August 1, 2025) as part of the Anne G. Osborn ASNR International Outreach Professor Program, where he delivered over 12 didactic lectures and conducted hands-on teaching sessions across three major academic medical institutions — Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), Hospital da Restauração, and IMIP (Instituto de Medicina Integral Prof. Fernando Figueira). His lectures spanned cutting-edge topics in neuro-oncology, including the 2021 WHO brain tumor classification updates, infratentorial tumor diagnosis, neuroimaging of toxic encephalopathies, and tumor treating fields for malignant gliomas, while also covering practical skills like protocol optimization, volumetric response assessment, and tumor board presentation strategies. The week culminated in four presentations at the Jornada Pernambucana de Radiologia, the region's largest radiology conference with over 1,200 attendees. Beyond the formal teaching, Dr. Mohan engaged residents, faculty, and technologists in interactive case reviews and workstation sessions, encouraged trainees to join ASNR and RSNA, and laid the groundwork for ongoing collaboration — including planned follow-up webinars, a mentorship exchange, and a joint CME initiative with his Recife colleagues.
