Duo Mobile App Updates Required Spring 2026
Duo has announced several upcoming changes that may have a broad impact on users of Duo Mobile for Two-Step Verification. These changes affect supported app version, mobile operating systems, and Duo Push functionality and will roll out in stages this spring.
What’s Changing & When?
-
March 31, 2026: Duo will require a minimum Duo Mobile app version of 4.85. On this date, Duo Push and Verified Push will stop working on earlier app versions.
-
April 15, 2026: Duo will end support for older mobile operating systems, including iOS 16 and Android 11. Devices running unsupported operating systems will not be able to update to supported versions of Duo Mobile.
Who Is Affected?
-
All users of the Duo Mobile app for Two-Step Verification will be affected, especially users who have not recently updated their app or mobile device operating system.
What Users Should Do
-
Update Duo Mobile to version 4.85 or later before March 31, 2026.
-
Ensure mobile device is running a supported operating system (Android 12 or later, or a supported iOS version).
-
If unable to update app or operating system, set up an alternative Two-Step Verification method using the Duo Device Management Portal.
What Happens If No Action Is Taken
-
Users who do not update Duo Mobile by March 31, 2026 will no longer be able to use Duo Push or Verified Push to authenticate. When attempting a Push, they will receive an “Update Required” message.
-
Users whose devices are running unsupported operating systems after April 15, 2026 may be unable to update Duo Mobile and will need to rely on alternate Two-Step Verification methods.
How to Check for Updates
-
Check Duo Mobile version: Open the app, tap the three-line menu icon in the upper left corner, and view the version number at the bottom of the screen. As of March 3, 2026, the current app version is 4.107 (note that 4.107 is a later version than 4.85).
