Description
125d Clinical postdoctoral fellows in this track receive advanced training and supervised experience in providing LGBTQ+ affirming psychotherapy. Fellows from all theoretical orientations are encouraged to apply. Supervision is provided by Dr. Elizabeth Kingfield, whose clinical approach integrates feminist and multicultural frameworks to support affirming and identity-conscious care.

Specific learning opportunities include:

  • Co-facilitating the LGBTQ+ Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Group
  • Writing letters of support for gender-affirming surgery
  • Providing psychotherapy within an affirming, evidence-based framework for LGBTQ+ individuals

The Outpatient Psychiatry Center (OPC) serves a diverse population of adults in the Philadelphia community, including those with CBH (Medicaid) and Penn employee insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver approximately 28 hours per week of direct clinical care (assessment and psychotherapy)
  • Participate in weekly individual and group supervision
  • Engage in didactics, seminars, and case conferences
  • Complete clinical documentation and administrative responsibilities
  • Attend departmental didactics and grand rounds
  • On a case-by-case basis, may provide tiered supervision to trainees under appropriate supervision
